I have a feeling 2013 will be a big, exciting, fun year for us, and that makes me so happy!
For New Year's Eve, Kyhle and I kept with tradition, and we went out for a nice dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. Yummy! I had my hair still in a bun from work that day, and I noticed Kyhle started to get all dressed up. As I started getting dressed, he looked at me and said, "Are you going to leave your hair like that?" Ha! I took that as him saying, "Honey, I'm sorry, but I don't want to go out on our nice date with you looking like worn out 'mom' of 12 kids!" I told him it would take me at least 45 minutes to get ready and redo my hair, to which he replied, "I'll wait!" After our delicious meal, we came home, changed into comfy clothes, and played Xbox until 11:45. Then we turned on New Year's Rockin' Eve, watched the ball drop at midnight, and went to bed at 12:15. We are so hardcore! ;)
On New Year's Day, we went down to my parent's house where they hosted a party with a few families from their church. Unfortunately, I still wasn't feeling well (I had been sick since the Saturday BEFORE Christmas, and I am still battling a lingering cold and grogginess), so Kyhle and I stayed downstairs for a little while, but then hid upstairs in my parent's room until the last guests left. We were a couple of party poopers. Later that evening, the four of us had fun playing a long game of Phase 10.
On January 3, Kyhle and I made the big decision to buy a new car! He has always had "hand-me-downs" for cars, with his latest one being a 1995 BMW 5 series wagon, with...331,000 miles! Obviously that car ended up giving up on us, and we had to get a second with us having such different schedules. We had been to multiple dealerships and checked all over online, but were having a tough time finding one that met our needs and price. We finally decided on leasing a new car, and after the 3 years, plan to just buy the car.
Kyhle is now a happy driver of a 2012 Honda Civic, and it was pretty fun driving a car off the lot with just 30 miles. I feel much better knowing that he will be safe travelling with his new job, and that I won't get any phone calls telling me he broke down or that his car won't start!
Speaking of new jobs, we are looking forward to Kyhle starting his new position with his Credit Union next week! He will be travelling between branches filling in as a personal banker or assistant branch manager. He is really looking forward to this position, as it pays salary instead of hourly, and comes with the full-time benefits and paid time off. He worked so hard to get this promotion, and has been so dedicated to working and going to school full-time. I am so grateful for all of his hard work supporting our family.
We are looking forward to all this year has to bring. We are hoping to do some travelling and have a couple of new trips in the works for later this year. Kyhle will celebrate his 25th birthday, my cousin will be getting married, we will celebrate our 3rd year of marriage, Kyhle's youngest brother will be leaving for his mission to Brazil, and we will have a couple of small reunions with my family. I'm anxious to see what else we will celebrate this year! Happy 2013!
