Masquerade in Monte Carlo

Kyhle is a personal banker at the Financial Center Federal Credit Union (FCFCU), and absolutely loves his job, which makes me so happy!  His company had a holiday party downtown last Saturday with a "Masquerade in Monte Carlo" theme.  I felt so stressed as I had no idea where I was going to find a dress so last minute, and wondering just how fancy it needed to be.  I had bought a cute gold top to wear with a black skirt, but the morning of the party, I felt like it wouldn't be good enough, and I went out on a frantic search for a dress.  I walked in to Dress Barn, saw a beautiful dress, tried it on, and it fit...perfectly!  There was a group of women shopping there together and they were so sweet complimenting me when I wanted their opinion on the dress, and they made me feel so good about myself.

Kyhle really spoiled me and told me he just wanted me to feel beautiful for this party.  I got my eyebrows waxed the night before, got my hair cut and styled beautifully, and I found some pretty jewelry to go with the dress.  The outfit was complete!

I was pretty nervous when we first arrived at the party, and there weren't as many people there as we were expecting.  They had poker tables set up everywhere, with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, with free non-alcoholic beverages (for the maybe 5 people not drinking!).  The poker tables were open from 7:30-10:30, and we sat at our Black Jack table playing the entire 3 hours!  I was not going to leave my spot because I won a Black Jack 12 times!  I felt pretty proud of myself, seeing how I had never played before.  By 8:00, the party was packed and everyone was having a great time.  It was so fun to rub elbows with some executives and get to know Kyhle's work family.  I was so happy that many people came to me to tell me how impressed they are with Kyhle and that he is such a hard worker.  I felt like a pretty proud wife that night.  Thanks for such a fun date night, love!

Loving Marriage

Kyhle and I have always been fans of "dating".  We are pretty good at making it a regular thing in our marriage, and we may even go out too often. ;)  If there is one positive to infertility, it is that it gives me more special time with my husband, and allows us to build our relationship and make more memories of just the two of us.  We love travelling, riding in the car for long hours, going to dinner, seeing movies, curling up on the couch to watch a movie, walk around Target, and taking the dogs on a walk.  Whatever it is we are doing, we always have a good time together.  I sure am grateful for that!

Kyhle started golfing this past spring with a league at his work.  He became addicted pretty fast and golfed quite often all summer and well into the fall.  I am glad he found something that he loves to do so much, and he is really trying improve his golf game.  He has enjoyed taking lessons from my dad, and one night I got to join them out on the course.  I love these photos of my dad and Kyhle, my two favorite men.

We love taking the dogs on a walk down to the river by our apartment.  They sure love it, too!  Millie is timid in the water, but Jeter just swims right out and pulls out all the sticks.  Winter time is tough on them since they don't get to go out much.

Kyhle's work had a night out at an Indians game.  It was during their playoffs, and it ended up being the last game of the season.  They ended the night with an awesome firework show!

Kyhle won free tickets to a Pacers game from Twitter!  The director of scouting tweeted out that he had two tickets to whoever wanted them.  Kyhle was the lucky winner!  It was such a fun date night, something that we don't normally do.  The seats weren't too bad, either, as Larry Bird was just two rows in front of us.  :)

I love coming home to flowers, or when he walks in the door with flowers for me.  Kyhle is such a romantic, and he works so hard at making sure I always feel loved and appreciated.

We had some time to kill on a Saturday afternoon, so we hit up a mini golf in Greenwood and played pretty competitively. :)

California Visitors

My sister, Emily, and her son, Noah, came home from California for a short visit in September.  It was so fun to have special time with them, and I was grateful Kyhle and I got the chance to know Noah better.  Em and Noah, along with my parents, came over to our apartment for dinner one night.  It was fun to show Emily where I live and be able to host some of our family.  Noah loved Jeter and Millie!  We also all drove to Terre Haute one day, and spent time with our extended Metheny family at my aunt and uncle's house.  I love having cousins so close to us and it's special to see the cousin's children playing together and getting along so well.

We drove down to Columbus one day and spent some time at an indoor playground, and then toured an old-fashioned ice cream shop.  We will have to go back soon and actually get some ice cream!  We then had a picnic at in a park, and rode a train ride.  Unfortunately, children under two couldn't ride, so Emily and Laura had to stay back with Noah and Clara.  Eli sure was excited about the train ride, though!

Joanna and Austin

My best friend, Joanna, and I have been friends as far back as we can remember.  My family moved to Martinsville when I was 2, and we have known each other ever since.  Over twenty years later, and still going stronger than ever!  I must say, I did a fantastic job matchmaking these two, as Austin and I were in YM/YW together when my family moved to Greenwood.  I introduced them one night when we were in high school, and the rest is history! What is so fun about it, is that Joanna and Austin just live 10 minutes from us!  We get together with them often, and always have a good time.  It is so fun when the husbands become good friends, too!

After surgery, I really needed to get out of the apartment and do something outside.  We decided to go play putt-putt, and then went to Steak and Shake for a late dinner and milkshakes!  I realized later that night that I probably overdid it a bit, but it was a lot of fun, and felt good to be out moving around.

Back in August, we went to the Indiana State Fair for a fun double date.  We enjoyed some darn good food and people watching.  Kyhle of course had to get a deep friend twinkie.  Yuck!  We love having such good friends live so close to us.

Joanna's 25th birthday was in September, so we went out to dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise.  After dinner, they came over and we played some games and chatted for a bit.  Happy Birthday, Jo!  I am so grateful for you and the friendship we have.  I have never known a more loving, loyal, and supportive friend.  I love you, friend!

Clara Rosalie

I haven't blogged about anything that has happened since my surgery in July!  I have been so behind on it all, but I have no excuses.  Here is a post about the newest member of the Metheny/Hayes family!

My sweet niece, Clara Rosalie Hayes, was born on July 25!  I loved being able to be at the hospital the whole time (not during delivery) and spending so much time with her the next day.  I was off work from my surgery the week before, so I was able to go to the hospital and sit with my sister the day after for a few hours.  I just loved getting to cuddle Clara and have that special one-on-one time with her.  I always tell her that we will be best friends. :)

Clara was blessed on Sunday, September 8, which was also her daddy's birthday!  My family, along with David's family, joined Laura and David at their ward for the blessing.  We then went to Laura and David's house for a birthday party and dinner.  It was such a beautiful day, and we had a great time together celebrating Clara and David.
