I cannot believe it has been 11 months since my last post! That means I also can't believe 2014 is almost over. This has been a wild year for our little family, with lots of changes, happy times, sad times, and many new memories. I have some more specific posts I want to write about, including trips we have taken and family gatherings, so this post will just be a catch up of random moments from 2014.
In January, we had a few crazy snow days that completely shut the city down for a couple of days! We were on an emergency watch, and they said not to go outside unless you absolutely HAD to. One day, Kyhle and I were just so cooped up that we decided to bundle up as much as we could and took the dogs to run in the field of snow. It was so miserably cold, but so much fun!

In March, we arrived home from our trip to California to the news that our sweet Millie passed away unexpectedly. We only had two years with her, but she sure was loved! I told Kyhle I didn't want to get another dog because it was just too hard to lose her the way we did. Ha! That didn't last long. Two weeks later, we went to the shelter to look at puppies and fell in love with a little tan boy. We knew right away he was ours. We were on a wait list behind three people so we were worried we wouldn't get him. We got a call two days later and he was ours! Kyhle drove back to Terre Haute, and brought him home to me that night. Gehrig Poter is the newest member of our little family! I can't believe we have had him for 9 months! He's quite the little rascal.

My mom hosted a beautiful Easter for the whole family, and my cousins, aunt and uncle came in from Terre Haute to celebrate with us. We had perfect weather, and the kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the back yard.
Kyhle celebrated his 26th birthday this year! It wasn't a super exciting day, as he had to work, but we had a fun evening. His desk was decorated with cards and balloons when he got to work, and a co-worker made cupcakes for him. I had his gifts waiting for him, and we got takeout from his favorite BBQ place, Squealers. We curled up and watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which is what I got him for his birthday. For his gift from our parents, we got to go to New York for a concert. I'll write a post on that later. :)
Kyhle unfortunately got in to a bad car accident this spring. We sadly had to say goodbye to his Civic, but were so beyond grateful that Kyhle came out of it safe and no broken bones. We had a rental car for awhile, until we were able to find a new one. He got the car he's been wanting--a Jetta.

On May 31, my two best friends from Young Women and high school each got married! Rachel and Lane got married in the morning in the Louisville temple, and Kyhle and I were able to attend their sealing. It was so special, and I was just so happy for Rachel! We had a fun bachelorette party for her with all of our group from YW and had such a good time! We went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and stayed for four hours!

Marlie and Joel got married at a beautiful winery in Seymour, Indiana. Lucky for us, Seymour is on the way home form Louisville, so it worked out perfectly! It was so fun to see many old high school friends, meet everyone's new significant others, and talk about old memories. Marlie and Joel are so, so loved by so many. They had such a gorgeous wedding and reception, with fireworks ending the night.
In July, Kyhle's best friend Judd, his wife Taylor, and their baby girl, Ivy, came to visit us. They were living in Chicago for a few months, so they drove down for the weekend. My parent's were out of town, so we got to stay at their house. We had such a fun weekend with them, and loved getting to know Ivy!

I celebrated my 25th birthday on July 6! My parents were out of town, so we celebrated with them a week early. My birthday was on a Sunday, so that kind of dampers the day's celebrations. Kyhle did bring me home a yummy piece of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory and we watched a movie together.
We celebrated four years of marriage on July 8! We met each other at McCallister's for dinner on July 7, and started celebrating early. We took the day off work on the 8th, and we went up to Noblesville and had lunch at Tucanos. Kyhle had class that night, so we had to celebrate during the day. After lunch, we went to Dave and Busters and acted like kids playing arcade games. I sure love having fun with my hubby. I love you, Kyhle!
We were raising money to do IVF, so we had two large garage sales for fundraisers. One at my sister's house in July, and one at my parent's house in September. We made a total of about $450 between the two sales, so they were a pretty good success. My nephew Eli had a lemonade/brownie stand at both sales, and he sure did help us make some good money!
One of my favorite TV shows is called Nashville on ABC. Two of the artists from the show came to our state fair and put on a free concert! You should have seen the excitement on my face!! Kyhle and I met my girlfriend and her sister there and because of her determination, we ended up standing down in the front. Oh man, I felt like a little girl just "oooing" and "awwwing" over Chip Esten, who plays "Deacon" on the show. It was such an awesome concert, and I was just so happy! Thank you to Kyhle for being willing to stand in the crowd of country fans and being patient with me and my crush on Chip. :)
Kyhle's dad, Nate, has over a month off work right now, so he decided to make the trip out to see us! He arrived on Friday, December 5 and stayed until Sunday night. We loved spending so much quality time with him, and I loved getting to know him better. We stayed in and ordered a pizza on Friday. Nate's birthday was on Saturday, so Kyhle made us breakfast burritos and then he had to go to work for a few. When he got home, Nate told us he wanted to take us to Ikea and let us pick out some furniture! What a fun surprise! We drove to Cincinnati, picked out a bed, two bedside tables, and an entertainment center! We then had dinner at Red Robbin, and made the trek back home. Sunday, Nate and Kyhle set up the furniture, we drove Nate around Greenwood and Franklin looking at land for sale, and then had dinner at my parent's house before taking Nate to the airport. Thank you, Nate, for coming to see us!
As you can see, 2014 has been a good year to us. It is fun to look back and see all of the fun adventures we had. Maybe a resolution for 2015 will be to keep up with this blog, along with our baby blog!
