Crowded streets. Empty beer bottles. Loud music. Fireworks. Zipline. ESPN. Free Concerts.
Indianapolis is a proud city this week, as we are the hosts of Super Bowl XLVI. What a riot! Kyhle and I joined our good friends Joanna and Austin downtown last night to check out all crazy that "Super Bowl Village" had to offer. We were grateful for Kyhle's IUPUI parking pass, as parking everywhere downtown was $25! It has always been a dream of mine to go to New York City for New Years Eve, but I think I will start looking for a new dream. We could barely walk down Georgia Street last night without getting trampled on by drunk inappropriate people. Kyhle and I overheard some funny parts of random conversations throughout the night that we later put in to one, and got a nice laugh out of that. :)
We ended up walking 10 flights of stairs to get to the top of a parking garage on Georgia Street to be able to look down on all the chaos and see it all from a better view. There were big screen TVs all over the place to broadcast the free concerts going on down by Banker's Life Field House, outdoor lounge/bars, radio stations set up broadcasting their shows, a miniature football field for the kids to run around on, and a zipline that went right above all the action. Every time someone would go down the zipline, everyone below would clap and cheer for them.
As we were braving our way through the crowd, I was holding on to Kyhle for dear life worried that I was going to get lost in the madness! I got stepped on a few times, shoved pretty hard by some impatient people, and yelled at by some crazies for (excuse me!) getting in their way. As wild as the night was, we are grateful that we were able to be a part of such a cool, and rare experience.
