Mom for 2 Weeks

Well it sure has been a while!  Man, I really got behind on this blog.  I am not going to bore you with what has been happening the past 3 months, and just move on to what is coming up and try to do better and keeping up with this thing.

In a little less than 2 weeks, I will be flying out to California (Sacramento to be exact), and will be taking care of my brother's 4 kids while he and my sister-in-law go to Italy!  When they called and asked if I would be willing to do this, I was so excited, but pretty nervous.  More than anything, I am nervous about being away from Kyhle for so long.  Since we got married, we haven't been apart for more than 2 days.  This will be TWO weeks!  Oh, what is a girl to do?  There will be a lot of Facetime and Skype, and hopefully he'll be able to stay up late enough so we can Skype after the kids are all in bed.

I am so excited because I only get to see my nieces and nephew once, maybe twice a year.  It is so hard living far apart from all but one of my siblings, and I really do cherish the time I get to spend with them, even when it is limited.  I am grateful Ryan and Jeri thought of me for this trip, and trust me to take care of Gwen, Zach, Annie and Tori.  It will definitely be a challenge for a few reasons, but I think I am up for it. :) I am going to get a taste of what motherhood is like, as unlike work, I don't get to just go home at the end of the day and have my own peace and quiet.  My sister-in-law keeps the kids pretty busy and they are all involved in extra-curricular activities.  Gwen has piano, softball and tutoring, Zach has baseball, and Annie has ballet.  (I think that's all?) ;) I am also interested to see how I do on Sunday morning getting them all ready and off to church to a ward where I don't know anyone.  Hmm...

I fly out on Tuesday, April 30 and fly home on Sunday, May 12.  I am pretty bummed that I fly home on Mother's Day, because now I won't be able to Skype with Kyhle's brothers who are both on missions.  I didn't even think about that when scheduling my flight.  Kyhle and I were going to buy him a ticket to come out for a few days, but we put it off and now they are $450! I was pretty disappointed we waited so long, but we were hoping the price would go down from $375...guess not!  I guess coming home to him will be all the more fun!

Did I mention they got a puppy a couple of months ago?  Tori and Coco are definitely going to keep me on my toes!  Wish me luck! :)
